  6. Merlin Systems has started its beta-testing program for its newest software
  7. product, PCB-UUCP.  Finally, a full-featured PCBoard-UUCP gateway has been
  8. created!
  9.  
  10. PCB-UUCP will allow Pcboard BBS software to exchange mail with UUCP / RFC822 /
  11. RFC1036 based systems.  Thus allowing PCBoard users access to mail from the
  12. Internet and USENET.
  13.  
  14. Some of its more outstanding features are:

  16.   private e-mail
  17.     - mail waiting flag set (optional)
  18.     - attached files (optional)
  19.     - seamless replies (You dont have to enter a To: line in the text of your
  20.       reply!)
  21.     - automatic convertion of 'postmaster' and 'root' to sysop's name
  22.     - routing of private mail to other systems

  24.   newsgroups
  25.     - automatically uncompresses & unbatches
  26.     - batches & compresses outgoing newsgroups (optionally)

  30.     - 'Areafix' function for allowing your USENET neighbours to add/delete

  114.         1    AreaFix is a FidoNet term that is used here to mean the
  115.              same thing.  Basically, one of your neighbour systems can
  116.              drop/add newsgroups, distributed to them by you,
  117.              automatically without human intervention.

  119.         2    By optionally setting an incoming messages Echo Flag, it
  120.              is possible to cross-post messages from one network into
  121.              another.  (ie. USENET <-> FidoNet/QWK/Pcrelay)
  122.  
  123.         3    The LISTSERV feature enables a system to receive messages
  124.              addressed to listserv (a standard among Mailing Lists).
  125.              The feature will add/drop users from Mailing Lists that
  126.              are sourced locally.

  128.         4    This is nessecary to block users from subscribing to
  129.              mailling lists that can increase a systems Internet mail
  130.              volume dramatically.

  132.         5    With uuPCB, the user must enter the destination person's
  133.              address in his/her reply.  PCB-UUCP handles the original
  134.              message's source address and message ID automatically for
  135.              replies.

  137.         6    Not including options found in PCBoard.

  139.         7    Anyone on the internet can send an email to LISTSERV at your
  140.              systems and ask for a list of files from one conference.  They
  141.              can also ask for that file to be attached to a return message.
  142.              This is totaly optional and configurable.
